      Our Nursery         

We have 26 children in our morning class, which runs from  8:50am to 11:30am.

We have 26 children in our afternoon class, which runs from 12:30pm to 3:00pm.

The Nursery Curriculum
 
Through careful planning and observations we provide learning experiences within the context of a happy and caring environment.
 
We have an ongoing programme of theme work linked to the guidelines provided by the Department of Education. We aim to provide learning situations for the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of each child.
Each child will learn in a different way and at a different rate and do the progress of all Nursery pupils will be kept under review by systematic evaluation.
 
 
Objectives
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development - Concentrating on harbouring independence, sharing and co-operation.
  • Communication, Language and Literacy - Encourage and promote talking and listening amoungst the children.
  • Mathematics - Including counting up to 10 and beyond, knowledge of numbers and values, use of numbers and other mathematical concepts, e.g. shapes, weight, volume etc.
  • Physical Development - To improve the skills of walking, running, throwing, catching, pedalling, threading etc.
  • Creative Development - Focusing on the creative aspects in the use of colour, paint, glue, role-play etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the World - Experiencing and learning about other culture, science, our family and the environment, use of imagination, awe and wonder.

The Moral and SpirituaL development of your child is also supported and respected.
