Hockey Results
Last week, the boys’ and girls’ hockey teams competed in the 2nd round of
matches at Grosvenor Grammar School. The boys lost their first match against Inchmarlo 1-2, but they played well and were unlucky not to snatch a late equaliser. Excellent goalkeeping from Finn Hagan and a cool finish from Thomas Armstrong were the highlights of the game. In the second match against Campbell, Alex Armstrong’s goal was enough to give Stranmillis a 1-0 victory. The final match against Strandtown was a great contest, with both teams attacking and defending well. Stranmillis led for most of the game thanks to a Gregory Conway goal, but Strandtown didn’t give up, and scored a late equaliser.
On Friday, the girls played against Ben Madigan, Holywood and Strandtown. The team competed well in all three fixtures, which all finished 0-0. Fiona Murray played excellently at the back and stopped several attacks from the opposition teams. Stranmillis did have chances to score, but were unable to find a breakthrough. Well done to all the children involved.
